Freewaystück is een experimentele audiografie van de reisweg Gent naar Wenen over Berlijn en Praag en terug: 2656 km opgenomen in twee ‘long tracking shots’ op MPEG-4 digitale video. Bijna 30 uur werd al rijdend gefilmd met een ‘sonoor’ voertuig dat voorzien is van twee vaste videocamera’s (links en rechts) aan een snelheid tussen 50 en 150 km/h. De 8 kanaals soundtrack voor TONSPUR 45 is opgebouwd uit de vier delen, van stad tot stad, vertrekkende van de tijdsduur van elke volledige rit. De bronduur ben ik procentueel gaan versnellen totdat elk deel nog slechts 24 minuten duurt. De kleuren van de videobeelden dienen als basis voor de digitale transmutatie in geluid. De RGB data 0 tot 255 zijn omgezet naar geluidsfrequenties en de luidheid van elk klankspoor wordt door de hoeveelheid ‘lucht’ in het video beeld, d.m.v. color tracking, bepaald.

Freewaystück is an experimental audiography about the itinerary Ghent to Vienna over Berlin and Prague and back: 2656 km registered in two ‘long tracking shots’ on MPEG-4 digital video. Almost 30 hour was filmed riding with a ‘sonorous’ vehicle equipped with two steady cameras (left and right) at a speed between 50 and 150 km/h. The 8 channels soundtrack for TONSPUR 45 has been composed out of four parts, from city to city, starting from the duration of the four drives. I accelerated the source duration in terms of percentage until each part lasts 24 minutes only. The colours of the video image serve as ground for the digital transmutation into sound. The RGB data 0 to 255 are translated into sound frequencies and the loudness of each sound track is set by means of colour tracking the amount of ‘air’ in the video image.
